Cooking Made Easy, March 8, 2010
What a fab book, I have little knowledge of cooking, i.e what spice/herb is best with what meat etc, but this book makes it nice and simple, some cracking ideas too, I'm slowly working my way thru it and havn't found a bad dish yet. Well worth the money, and like it says , "Anyone can learn to cook in 24hs" Does what it says on the tin!!!

I have a number of Jamie Olivers cook books. This is the best one yet ! Simple, wholesome recipes. From how to cook a simple egg to more exotic recipes. Simply written, simple to follow, simply wonderful !!!
Anyone wanting to know the basics and how to progress will NOT be disappointed in buying this book.
And by the way! It was delivered on time as I have come to expect from Amazon.

Appears to have some very usefull recipes. Great Hot Pot and Liver and bacon.
Excellent starting place for non cooks like me!, February 26, 2010
My girlfriend has this book and it really has got me interested in cooking. Personally i've never been a huge fan of Jamie Oliver, particularly not in his previous cooking programs with what seems like his very forced cockney geezer mannerisms. However having watched the program he did where he tried to help young offenders by training them as chefs and then the series that accompanied this book, I do have a new found respect for him. He really believed what he was doing and it says something about our country at the moment that rather than politicians trying to do anything about rising obesity levels and unhealthy children etc it took a celebrity chef to attempt to do something about it! So I do think he deserves respect for the amount of time and effort he put into it.
But back to the book. I'm quite lazy when it comes to cooking and I really found this book made me want to get in the kitchen and cook and although I haven't cooked everything in the book what I have tried preparing I have found easy to follow and ends up tasting very nice. I feel confident enough now to make little changes to recipes so they suit my tastes, like adding Boursin cheese to the creme fraiche in the lasagne. Which by the way I thought made it even more delicious! In the past I never would've done this. I am normally terrible for following instructions exactly and don't know what to do without them. So on this basis I would say that this book is certainly a good starting point for people like myself who aren't that good at cooking and want somewhere simple to begin. I really think Jamie Oliver can consider this book a huge success. It will interest you in cooking and show you numerous recipes that are tasty and reasonably easy to do which in turn then gives you more confidence and makes you want to cook more of them. For some people who already consider themselves adept at cookery then perhaps this isn't the book for you, however some of the time saving measures he has for lots of the recipes might appeal to those with children to feed and a limited timeframe to do it in!
