What more can be said about this camera, it is an excellent camera and glad I bought it! I just love it and care for it accordingly. very clear pictures which are easy to download, etc. Would definitely recommend.

I have to say that this camera is outstanding; despite the poor reviews, the camera's build is solid, nothing wrong whatsoever. It's image quality would be above average. I would recommend this camera to a person between the novice and expert consumer: it's not too basic but just not good enough for an expert.

I bought the S1000 to complement the S5600 I've been using for a couple of years and as it takes XD and well as SD cards I can use my XD cards in both cameras. The S5600 is a good digital camera but the monitor is quite small and although light-weight it's still a little bulky. The S1000 is much smaller and more compact with a bigger monitor and really does fit in my (quite large) handbag. It's got a viewfinder as well as the monitor, which is a must for me. Took it on a two week holiday to Scotland and am really impressed with the landscape settings. Performed really well on night-time setting too and even managed without a tripod by leaning into trees and posts etc. I don't take a lot of "people" pictures but the face recognition feature is excellent. I found the on/off switch a bit fiddly at first (I can use the S5600 wearing thin gloves) and fine tuning the zoom takes a little practice. Both optical and digital zoom are more than adequate for the average amateur photographer. Love the macro and super macro settings, as I like to photograph interesting flora, and can get as close as I used to with a 35mm film camera. All in all, I would recommend the S1000 for anyone used to "point and shoot" cameras who want to upgrade to something more sophisticated, and for the more serious photographer who wants a small camera with all the "serious" features.

I simply loved its functioning and appearance. I bought this one few months back and now it has become more expensive since then. Very good results, good style but the only thing i didnt liked is it takes little time to drop shutter when you click to take pic. otherwise resluts are fine...i still have to explore its full features...., all in all.... worth buying.
