Cannon Camera, April 26, 2010

Lovely little camera the Canon Digital Ixus 100 IS very compact and easy to use and fits perfectly into the cannon leather case. Price is very good and would recommend this camera. Only downfall is it does not come with SD card, but Amazon as some good prices on these.

Had a Canon IXUS 500 for about 5 years which was fantastic, but unfortunately fell over on the ice at Christmas and dropped the camera which led to the senor not working and costing too much to repair. So had to invest in a new camera and having always had Canon cameras and having done lots of research on the internet I decided to plump for the Canon IXUS 100 IS (also recommended by 'Which' magazine as being one of the top compact digital cameras#. However, having used it on many occasions in the last 3 months I am VERY disappointed. The majority of the pictures are blurred. Anything white comes out extremely bright so you can't see any detail. There is a lot of noise in the pictures as well. I can't emphasise enough how poor the quality of the pictures have been. I started off with the 'Auto' setting and then changed to 'Program' and made my own settings in the hope that the quality would improve, but no such luck. As the camera itself is very slim it makes it very difficult to hold properly when taking pictures. Needless to say, I've now decided to purchase another new camera!

Having owned a digital Nikon SLR the D70 really the first of the affordable SLR'S I decided to buy a compact for occasional use where the SLR was really a bit bulky to carry around. I am not really all that impressed, I find the camera much to small to hold comfortably and manipulate the controls. You are supplied with a wrist strap to attach to the camera this the manual suggests you lap around your hand in case it falls I think this is good advice the camera is so fiddly it could easily fall from your grasp. The software supplied to edit is cumbersome to use compared to Photoshop Elements but then it comes as part of the kit so really cannot complain to much. The latch over camera terminal for connecting to the computer is not very strong and I would not be surprised if it came adrift after use for a little while, I could be wrong. The picture quality is OK but I suppose after being used to the SLR I would be possibly harder to please than someone buying their first compact. All in all I am not particularly happy with my new purchase. If you want a handy little camera to throw in the suitcase for holidays go ahead and buy but beware if you have large paws.

Very pleased with the camera. It's very compact, high quality and reasonably easy to use. First pictures seem excellent. Delivery and price very good when compared to other sellers.
